Whilst I was at a midweek church service today (10 March) some lowlife went into the office and found the safe key and helped themselves to the contents. Having a safe without a conbination lock has proved expensive, the reason for not upgrading in the first place. Ironically, the minister gave a speech about understanding people who are different than us, thieving bastards..

How come they managed to get into your office, and, in addition, find the safe key - so easily?

I hope it wasn't left somewhere obvious.

Guilty, the office was left unlocked and the key in a drawer, just asking for trouble. that is the trouble with religious groups, too trusting!

Sorry Stephen, not aimed at you personally.
Unitarian sounds like another word for accountant or stock-taker!

I didn't know that either Tony! Their constitution makes them sound a bit like a church run by a trade union (not that that's a bad thing as a trade unionist myself!) or maybe the Quakers without the allegiance to pacifism...

Well think about it, Christians are Trinitarians they believe in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Sprit, hence trinity and therefore Trinitarian, Uni means one, God is just one, and Jesus was completely human and a prophet. We believe in life before death rather than after it, this is not a rehearsal. Having said all that, we do not believe that anyone should be barred from church, there are Trinitarians and people who believe in the Earth Spirit who attend our services. we have no dogma that you must believe in to attend, all are welcome. We are similar in many aspects to the Quakers. Sorry that was a bit too serious, now back to Kagoul with gay abandon, tra la lala!!!!

So what is the point of Unitarians?
To what earthly uses do they put themselves?
Godbothering by any other name......

So what is the point of Unitarians?

But that can be said of any religion, any aetheist, any human, we all have the freedom to choose how we get through this life, and we don't have the right to tell others how to live their lives, good or bad. Unitarians don't believe in trying to convert others, that is abuse!!! The first female doctor was a Unitarian, the first female church minister was Uni, the first major female school/college (Rodene) Uni. First to accept gays and lesbians into the ministry, yep, Uni. We are not like any other religion, we do not discriminate. Florence Nightingale was Uni and Wordsworth and Dorothy regularly came to Uni services, Mrs Gaskell etc on and on and on and on. The service these people gave to humanity cannot be underestimated. Earth goddess worshippers are hardly god botherers. But I value your comments on me and my freedom to choose my life, and as I said we don't believe in abusing people by trying to convert them. Now where is that rolling pin, it has been quite some time since I used it. lol

Point taken Stephen, but I still can't see the reason one would want to be among their "flock"! Birds of a feather...fools seldom differ...things like that come to mind.
But if it keeps them off the streets, and from breaking into my house or car, then it is worthwhile.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for clearing up exactly what Unitarians are, sounds quite sensible to me.

I dont think a lot of folks realise there is a big social aspect to most religions which can be a great help especially to older folks with no families etc.

You hit the nail right on the head, social services can't cope, if these other groups were to fail with their luncheon groups for the elderly or playgroups etc well just imagine never seeing another human from one week to the next.

Hardly birds of a feather, I call that major diversity.
